Punjab Education Dept to create awareness about voting system

Jalandhar Ahead of National Voters Day on January 25, the district Education Department has initiated a campaign and started organising various competitions to create awareness among the students about voting system in India. Under the
campaign, various activities and exercises will be organised by the department in different schools of the district, said an official of the Education Department. The department has launched a campaign to make students, studying in both public and private schools, aware about their rights and duties to preserve the democratic tradition of the election process. “Heads of all the schools have been advised to ensure that all students attaining the age of 18 years on or before January 1, 2014 have to be enrolled as voters, the official added. District Education Officer (Secondary) Neelam Kumari said, “The instructions have been forwarded to all the principals to take an oath letter from the parents of Class XI, XII students and regarding awareness classes.” The DEO said, “In the awareness camps, students have been made aware about the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and voting system of the country.” Education Dept to create awareness about voting system
