Inter-school sports meet in February-Maluka

Chandigarh Education and Languages Minister Sikander Singh Maluka on Tuesday announced a state-level tournament for students of all primary schools in the state at Jalandhar from February 21 to 23. He said the state government will promote sports in all the government schools across the state from the primary level by organising zonal and state-level tournaments. The Education
Minister also disbursed sports funds amounting to Rs 75.2 lakh to seven senior secondary schools of Ludhiana, Patiala, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Amritsar and Sangrur for the development of sports in the schools. Maluka said the Punjab government has decided to grant additional marks to school students achieving the first three positions in the state, national and international-level school games. Such students would get 15 additional marks for their state-level school games achievements and 25 marks for their national as well as international achievements. The Minister asserted that the state government was committed to provide the best available facilities to promote sports and encourage the students to take part in the games from primary level onwards so that budding talent could be nourished properly.
