5178 Pendu sahyogi Teachers posts: Punjab Govt to verify degrees

Chandigarh, November 29
The Punjab School Education Department has initiated the process of checking the authenticity of postgraduate and doctoral degrees from universities under scanner possessed by candidates for the posts of rural associate teacher. The department will recruit at least 5,178 teachers, mainly in social sciences.

The date and schedule for scrutiny under orders of Anjali Bhawra, Principal Secretary, Education, has been put on the official website of the department. Candidates with degrees under scanner have been asked to present before the committee along with original certificates.

Earlier, a notice was sent by Advocate HC Arora to the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary, Education, and Director, Education Department, seeking a review of Ph.D./M.Phil degrees submitted by candidates appearing in the recruitment process. He quoted an instance of degrees from CMJ University, Meghalaya, which had been declared illegal by the Supreme Court.
