Teachers’ recruitment -HC to decide if MA, M.Ed are to be treated on par

Can an M.Ed degree be treated on a par with an MA degree for the recruitment of teachers? The vital question of law will now be answered by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

The issue was today raised by Jasveer Kaur. She is seeking directions to Punjab Education Department and DPI (Secondary Education) to award 10 additional marks for an M.Ed degree for the purpose of recruitment to 5,178

HC notice to Punjab on selection of 5178 rural teachers

Taking up a petition seeking directions that Masters of Education (MEd) degree should also be treated on a par with other post-graduate degrees for awarding 10 additional marks in the examination conducted for filling 5,178 posts of rural associate teachers in Punjab, the Punjab and Haryana high court has issued a notice of motion to the state government.
The petition filed by Jasveer Kaur of Abohar, who holds BA, BEd and MEd degrees, came up for hearing before the court headed by justice Tejinder Singh Dhindsa on Thursday.
