Computer teachers plan protest

Jalandhar, December 8
The Computer Teachers Union today gave a call for a state-level protest in Ludhiana on December 14. The decision was announced during a protest held by members of the Computer Teachers Union here today. The decision comes in the wake of their demand for regularisation.

Teachers said while a notification was issued on December 2, 2010, to regularise the services of 5,000 computer teachers, who had been serving for two-and-a-half-years, from July 1, 2011 and appointment letters for the same had been issued. It was decided that the remaining computer teachers will be issued appointment letters every four months as they complete their two-and-a-half years. Teachers rued that after the completion of two-year probation period the state government has now backed out fro
m implementing the conditions and promises made in the said notification.

They said, "The new appointment letters have also removed the condition of civil service rules. Due to all this the future of computer teachers is gloomy."

They said, "By disregarding a departmental notification the government is forcing teachers to take to streets."

They said, "Despite the promises, the matter is still unresolved and due to the government's unrelenting stance on the issue, the computer teachers have now given a call to all the 7,000 teachers of the union to participate in a state-level rally at Ludhiana along with their families."

District president Pawan Sharma, vice-president Sushil Kumar, general secretary Rajinder Mahisampur, press secretary Amandeep Singh also chalked out a plan to fix the future course action for the union.
