Punjab: School kids to get grace marks for sports achievements

CHANDIGARH: Punjab government on Thursday decided to grant additional marks to school students achieving prizes in sports at the state, national and international levels.

Announcing this here, education minister Sikander Singh Maluka said students achieving first three positions in sports competitions on various leves would be granted additional marks.


The decision was taken on the pattern of Maharashtra and Goa, he said.

Maluka said such students would get 15 marks for their achievements in state level school games and 25 marks for those at national and international level.

He said sports would soon be included as a compulsory subject in government schools of the state.
