Verdict in school board recruitment scam soon

With the conclusion of arguments in the Punjab School Education Board recruitment scam involving former Education Minister Tota Singh, the court is expected to pronounce its verdict soon.

After the completion of the proceedings, the Mohali Additional District and Sessions Court has set October 30 as the next date for hearing of the case.


The Vigilance Bureau had booked Tota Singh under corruption charges after it found irregularities in the recruitment of 134 clerks and 60 helpers in the PSEB during his tenure from 1997 to 2002.

Toady, the other accused in the case, the then PSEB joint secretary Paviter Pal Kaur, former secretary Jagjit Singh, Amar Singh and Tirath Singh were also present in the court.

An official of the Vigilance Bureau said the arguments of both the defence and the prosecution had concluded. “We are expecting the verdict soon,” he added.
