Teachers demand removal of DEO accused of molestation

ETT Teachers' Union on Monday held a demonstration against district education officer (zila parishad) Paramjit Singh, who has been accused of molesting an ETT teacher of Mona Khurd school.

The teachers first held a rally in the zila parishad complex and then marched towards the office of additional deputy commissioner (development) Harbir Singh, where they burnt an eff
igy of the DEO. They demanded immediate arrest and dismissal of the officer.

Union leader Ajeeb Diwedi and Vikas Sharma said in case the accused was not arrested in the next 24 hours, an indefinite hunger strike would be started. They also accused the additional deputy commissioner of mishandling the issue that led to the unsavoury situation.

In a memorandum to the deputy commissioner, the union demanded that the complainant teacher should be transferred nearer home as she was undergoing mental trauma. All irrational transfers of ETT teachers affected recently should also be cancelled, they added.
