Punjab and Haryana high court has set aside the selection of 1, 983 physical training instructors (PTIs) made by Haryana government in 2010

A division bench of Punjab and Haryana high court has set aside the selection of 1, 983 physical training instructors (PTIs) made by Haryana government in 2010. It has also imposed a fine of Rs. 50, 000 on Haryana government and Rs. 10, 000 on Haryana Staff Selection Commission for committing fraud in selection process.

In September last year, a single judge bench of the high court had quashed the selection of 1, 983 teachers after it found out that all decisions were solely taken by the chairman of the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (SSC) without involving other members of the commission.

The court had also directed the commission to hold a fresh selection within a period of five months.

However, a month after, the court ordered that all instructors whose selection was quashed by the high court's single judge bench, would continue to remain in service till the final decision of the appeals filed by the state government and around 300 aggrieved PTIs.
