Dr Ghanshyam Dev, president of the Chandigarh District Council of PCCTU, said: "We have been trying our level best to get our long pending genuine demands fulfilled, but the indifferent attitude of the DHE office is forcing us to launch an agitation which will result in the loss of students during this peak session."

Dr IPS Sidhu, secretary of the Chandigarh District Council of PCCTU, said, "As we have decided to launch an agitation, the responsibility of the loss of the students will be of the authorities, especially the DHE office, which has deceived the teachers by not accepting their genuine demands."
