UGC proposes PhD after four year undergraduate course

The University Grants Commission (UGC) is considering extending the duration of undergraduate courses offered in all universities in the country from three to four years.
After this four year course, students will be able to do PhD directly.  For this, it will not be mandatory to be a postgraduate.  This was confirmed by UGC President Prof.  DP Singh.

Universities currently have a three-year undergraduate course and a postgraduate course of two years.  Only then a student can get admission in PhD.  In such a situation, the UGC is going to change the education policy of the country in a big way.  For this, the UGC has constituted an expert committee.  The same committee has submitted its report to the UGC for changes in education policy.  Many recommendations have been made in this.

New education policy will be implemented from next year

The committee constituted before the change in education policy has recommended that the duration of the undergraduate course be increased from three to four years.  Apart from this, the committee has made several recommendations.  Every recommendation is being seriously considered.  This policy will give a new direction to the country.  Because of this, every point of it will be implemented by examining it thoroughly.  The new policy can be implemented from next year.
