665 vacancies created in medical colleges: Joshi

The medical education and research department of Punjab has created 665 new vacancies of faculty and paramedical staff to further strengthen the medical infrastructure and service delivery system in government medical colleges and hospitals. Advertisement Besides,
instructions have also been issued to convene a meeting of the departmental promotion committee under the present rule and regulations. Punjab medical education and research minister Anil Joshi announced this on Tuesday. Joshi said 326 seats for senior residents would also be filled. Discussing the steps taken by the state government for the development of basic medical education in the state, he said a sum of Rs. 29 crore had been released for the upgrade of Government Medical College and Rajindra Hospital, Patiala. Joshi said efforts were on to fill the remaining vacant medical seats. He expressed hope of an increase in MBBS seats from 150 to 250 in government medical colleges of Amritsar and Patiala.
