SSA teachers demand their regularisation

Jalandhar, January 10 With the AAP campaign gathering momentum in the region, the threats of the teachers' unions to the government have also begun to vary in shade. While they earlier said they would intensify protests, now they
threaten they would vote for the AAP. Members of the SSA/RMSA/CSS staff unions today burnt effigy of the state government and blocked traffic at Lambra village for about half an hour. The staff members demanded that they should be regularised, since they have been working for the past six years. Daood Alam, president of the union, said: "We have been receiving assurances for the past many years. We overwork and get fewer holidays and still are not being regularisation. If the government continues to give us the cold shoulder, we will vote for the Aam Admi Party in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections." Their other demands include implementation of the CSR rules, more holidays, removal of the condition of clearing tests to receive appointments and removal of cases lodged against teachers .—TNS
