As per the information procured by RTI activist advocate Dinesh Chadha under the Right to Information Act, Punjab government has no employment policy to solve issues of unemployment. In response to Chadha's inquiry, the director of the Department of Employment Generation and Training, Punjab, has
provided this piece of information to him recently. Chadha had demanded the copy of employment policy from the director of the department concerned on November 7, 2013. Chadha said, "Unemployment is the main problem of youngsters of Punjab but the state government seems to be indifferent towards this issue which is clear from the fact that it has not prepared any employment policy to generate employment opportunities." He added that in absence of employment policy, youths have started staging agitations to get employment. Chadha urged the unemployed youth to gather on a common platform to raise the demand of a proper employment policy. Meanwhile, Unemployed Linemen Union Punjab president Pirmal Singh said, "Punjab government is not sincere in solving the problem of unemployment." He added that thousands of unemployed linemen after completing courses and training from industrial training institutes (ITIs) had been agitating from several years to get jobs, but instead of solving their problem, the state government had dealt with them with cruelty. Presently, 16 unemployed linemen, including Gursikhs are in jail as the state has implicated them in a false case of hurting Sikh religious sentiments, he added. Unemployed BEd Front Punjab president Deepak Talwarha said lakh of unemployed BEd teachers were in search of jobs from years. Unemployed BPEd /MPEd Union president Balwinder Johar, Unemployed Silai Kadhai Teachers Union president Surinder Kaur also demanded proper employment policy.
