Nawanshahr, January 12
Members of the Master Cadre Union, Punjab (MCUP), who have been issued show-cause notices stripping them of their promotion, submitted a memorandum of demands to Punjab Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Sukhwinder Singh here today.
Singh assured them of convening a meeting with Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal between January 19 and 22.
More than 400 newly promoted government school lecturers were stripped of their promotion after a “procedural lapse” was detected in the promotion list. They have been reverted to the master cadre. They are demanding a stay on the reversion.
The MCUP, led by Gurpreet Singh Riar, yesterday organised a state-level car rally from Khatkar Kalan, native village of Shaheed Bhagat Singh in Nawanshahr district, to the Chief Minister’s house.
