Aided school teachers to protest on January 18

Patiala, January 13
Nearly 4,200 teachers working in government-aided schools will hold a rally at Rampura Phul in Bathinda district on January 18 in protest against the non-payment of salaries for the past three months.

The teachers will go on a mass casual leave on the day of protest.

“The Punjab Government has put teachers in financial hardship by not releasing their salaries for the past three months,” said Davinder Rehan, member of the Punjab Aided School Teachers and Other Employees’ Union.

Lecturers, Class 4 employees and lab attendants are among the aggrieved lot.

“Teachers had been told that the government was considering their demand, but nothing has been done so far,” Rehan said.
