Chandigarh Acting on a contempt petition filed by government employees working with the Punjab Education Department, seeking the release of pay-scales and increments as per service rules, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued not
ice of motion to Principal Secretary, Education, Anjali Bhawra. Taking a note of the petition, the Bench headed by Justice Rakesh Kumar Jain issued notice of motion for January 28. Petitioners Raj Krishan and others had sought directions to the department to release the pay-scales as they have worked as Principal, Head Master and Block Primary Education Officer (BPEO), along with pay protection and further to grant an increment of higher responsibility on their discharging of duties of higher responsibilities. They prayed that since they were asked to perform the duties of Block Primary Education Officer, they should be deemed as having been promoted to the said post with release of consequential benefits. The petitioners alleged that though the directions were issued to the respondents, the decision was to be taken by the Principal Secretary.
