CBSE asks schools to prepare question papers on own for OTBA

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked schools to prepare question papers on their own for Open Test- Based Assessment (OTBA) for Class 11 which are scheduled to be held in March 2014. The board, however, will send questions for the OTBA section for10 marks through Integrated Test
Management System (ITMS) in the months of February/March 2014. The schools, therefore, are directed to conduct the annual examination of Class 11 as per the past practice. The question papers will be made by the teachers as per the syllabus and question paper design prescribed by the board. The OTBA section will be based on one of the open text materials supplied by the board. With the inclusion of OTBA section of 10 marks, the weightage of marks assigned to various units of geography, biology and economics syllabus will proportionately reduce. Pradeep Singh, principal of Shamrock Christian Senior Secondary school, said, “As per the board directions, the question papers for OTBA will be prepared by the respective subject teachers.”
