Teachers want govt to fill remaining 3442 posts

Ludhiana, November 19
Teachers, who have passed the Teacher Eligibility Test, have asked the state government to fill the remaining 3,442 posts at the earliest. They demanded that the recruitment process of 5,078 rural associate teachers should also be started as the counselling was done a month ago.

President of the Teacher Eligibility Test Pass Unemployed Teacher Union Deep Raja said in the last meeting held with the panel including, Chief Minister Parkash
Singh Badal, Education Minister Sikander Singh Maluka, DPI and DGSE, it was decided that in coming two months, the recruitment process would be started. "But to date, nothing has been done in this direction," said Raja, adding that every year, the state government conducted these tests but no recruitments were made. Raja said such tests were a waste of time and money. The government should take steps to fill the vacant posts.

The teachers threatened that they would resort to agitation, if their demands were not met at the earliest.
