Punjab enhances scholarship amount by 40% for apprenticeship
Chandigarh, November 24: Punjab Government has enhanced the amount of scholarship from Rs. six hundreds to nine hundreds of apprenticeship training scheme to encourage youth for entrepreneur purposes. All ITI students have to undergo mandatory training programme under the apprenticeship Training Act 1961.

Disclosing this here today. Madan Mohan Mittal, Technical Education & Industries Minister, Punjab said that ITI students has to undergo one year training programme and students after passing 10thor 8th class has to undergo two and four year direct training programme to complete their technical curricula.
Minister further said that scholarship for first year has been enhanced from Rs 1490 to 2100, for second year from Rs 1700 to Rs 2400, third year from Rs 1970 to Rs 2800 and fourth year from Rs 2220 to Rs 3100 per month.
He further said that this initiative has been taken to encourage the students for professional education to compete at national and international level and enable them to get self employed. He added that to achieve this target Department of Technical education has tied up with the education department to encourage the students to get industrial training.
He said that Punjab Government has approved two government institutions, Government Press Patiala and Government Basic Training Centre Hoshiarpur to get admissions in entrepreneurship training. Besides this private sector units like Punjab Tractor Limted, Mohali, DCM Engineering Products Asron, Ropar, Leader Engineering Works Limted, Jalandhar and Mugal Goetage India Limted Bahadurgarh, Patiala have also been enlisted for such training.
