Scholarship scheme for all pvt, govt colleges

Chandigarh All the students belonging to the Scheduled Castes studying in government as well private school and colleges in Punjab are now eligible for claiming the Post Matric Scholarship for pursuing higher education. Following the directions of the Punjab State Schedule Caste Commission, the Punjab government has implemented this scheme by widening its ambit, disclosed Punjab State chedule Caste Commission Chairman Rajesh Kumar Bagha, here, on Wednesday. Bagha said that the commission held a meeting with the senior officers of the Education and Welfare Departments, where the Education
Department tendered its written reply before the Punjab State Scheduled Caste Commission asserting that the instruction had been issued to all the Circle Education Officers and District Education Officers to ensure the implementation of the scheme. Besides this, the members of the Scheduled Caste Commission, DPI (Secondary Education) Kamal Garg and Deputy Director, Welfare Department, Jaswinder Singh Gill were present in the meeting. He said thta the motive of this scheme was to provide financial assistance to all the students belonging to Scheduled Caste community whose family income is less than Rs 2.50 lakh per annum. Bagha said that the commission also held a meeting with the State Urban Development Authority to review the implementation of the Swaran Jayanti Rozgar Yojna. He said that commission had directed the officers of the authority to propagate the virtues of this scheme.
