Disclosing this here, Principal Secretary, Finance D P Reddy said the finance department had cleared a additional salary bill of Rs 200 crore today and that the remaining bills were expected to be cleared, tomorrow.

The officer said what was needed to be understood was that the finance department was clearing salary bills as and when they were submitted by the drawing and disbursing officers of various departments. He said delay if any was due to the delay in submission of bills. “Let me make it clear that no directions have been issued to the Treasury Officers to withhold any salary bills”, he said.

Explaining the entire process of disbursement of salaries, Reddy said salary bills kept pouring in at the start of each month and that the bulk of the bills were cleared by the mid of the month. “This is a historical process which has been adopted by the State earlier also and is being adopted by other States also”, he added.

The officer said this month was no exception and that the Administrative Departments and the Treasury Officers had been asked to ensure that salary bills of the employees were cleared promptly.
