Punjab Govt enhances honorarium of Education providers
Chandigarh, September 26: On the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal the state government has enhanced the honorarium of the Education Providers by Rs 1000 per month with effect from September 1, 2013.
Disclosing this here today Education Minister Sikander Singh Maluka said that this decision has been implemented in the light of a meeting between the Chief Minister and Education Providers hel
d on June 14, 2012 in which, Badal had assured a hike of Rs 1000 per month in their honorarium. Consequently the School Education Department vide its orders issued on September 9, 2013 has decided to grant them higher honorarium, which would entail an additional burden of Rs 4.88 crore on the state exchequer. Maluka further said that the case related to the payment of their outstanding arrears since April 1, 2012 was being sent to the Finance department for seeking their concurrence.
 The Minister revealed that the Education Providers were paid honorarium as per theications in the ratio of 65:35 by the Government of India and Government of Punjab from the salary of Block Resource Person (BRP) issued under the Sarv Sikhya Abhyaan. He said that against one BRP three service providers were working. Therefore, Maluka said that as many as 6985 Education providers having different qualifications were working in the state against the approved 2351 BRPs during the current fiscal.
