With a few days remaining for the interviews to select the final candidates for the Punjab Civil Services (PCS), the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) on Friday warned candidates not to try to obtain any support for the interview.

The PPSC from the next week is set to conduct interviews for selecting candidates of the PCS, deputy district attorney and assistant district attorney (ADA).

Declaring the results for the post of the ADA, a PPSC official communication said, "It is informed that any attempt on the part of a candidate to obtain support for his interview by any means/unscrupulous elements will render him/her liable for disqualification."

Controversy surrounded the PPSC in 2008 when the vigilance bureau prepared a report that "some of the candidates were in touch with members of the Public Service Commission".

Meanwhile, sources said that to bring more transparency in its functioning, the PPSC would include noted personalities from various fields as experts in the interview panels.

PPSC chairman MS Buttar said, "The process of selection will be transparent and impartial. My only endeavour is that the state gets the best officers."
