CBSE schools closed for Christmas

New Delhi, December 23
The CBSE is all set to mark Christmas as Good Governance Day in its schools which would be closed on account of a public holiday on December 25.
The board has invited entries from students to mark the Good Governance Day on December 25 to remember former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Vajpayee’s birthday falls on December 25.

As part of the celebrations, the CBSE will hold an online essay contest under the title “Expression Series” and has invited voluntary, online entries from students on December 25 between 9 am and 5 pm.
“This year December 25 will be marked as a day of celebrations by the CBSE. The CBSE has decided to dedicate the upcoming Expression Series to Good Governance Day on the occasion of the birthday of Atal Bihari Vajpayee,” the CBSE said.
“The idea behind celebrating the Expression Series on Vajpayee’s birthday is to recognise the national leader for his exemplary work. This essay competition will be a perfect way to imbibe leadership qualities in the students and teach them how to work towards a set objective,” said CBSE director Sadhna Parashar.
The CBSE said the series offers voluntary participation for students. “36 best entries will be awarded Rs2,000 and a certificate each after a plagiarism check,” the Board said.
