Keeping in view the winter season, the UT education department has decided to change the timings of all government schools from Tuesday. The changed timings will be applicable till January 31. Though the winter vacations for schools
will start from December 24 onwards, will go on till January second week. For single-shift schools, the timings for students of Classes 6 to 12 are 8.40am to 2.40pm, whereas timings for students of Classes 1 to 5 are from 8.40am to 2pm. As far as double-shift schools are concerned, timings for morning shift are 7.30am to 1.15pm. For evening shift, the timings are 12.30 pm to 5pm. “This time the department has taken the initiative to go ahead and give winter vacations in government schools on time which will extend to mid-January. In the last few years we have seen that holidays start in December end, but the best thing will be if this decision is approved by the schools,” said Roma Sharma, who is a government school teacher.
